Pretty copper wiccan wheel of the year pendant with fine artwork, a treat to wear. Size diameter 45mm. A lovely solid pendant. This has exactly the same detail as the silver version and is good value for money; it shows the many aspects and celebrations that are important within the pagan year.
The eight festivals are :-
Samhain (or Halloween) 31st Ocotober - this marks the start of winter, all crops should have been harvested by now and the earth prepares for long winter nights and cold frosty days. Life is resting at this time and it is a time of reflection rather than action. Carved Pumpkins, lighted candles, apple bobbing and trick or treating are the order of the night.
Yule 21st December - this joyful festival reminds us that spring is just around the corner and although the days are short and the nights long the wheel turns from dark to light and this point and gift giving and decorated trees occupy our time
Imbolc 2nd February - this is the beginning of spring, and we can see it in the natural world as the days begin the get longer and weather better and spring lambs dance in the fields, the drab winter is brushed aside and we prepare to put our plans into action for the coming year.
Ostara 21st March - this is an equinox and marks the point in the year when light and dark are equel it is a time of balance (being an astrological event the date of balance may vary slightly). The light is intense and the buds are beginning to bloom and the earth and it's creatures concentrate on fertility at this time.
Beltane 1st May - this celebrates the beginning of summer, and warmth has returned to the earth, we are making sure that the seeds and plans that we sowed at the beginning of the year are now growing strongly.
Litha 21st June- Midsummer Solstice, the longest day; this is a time when the sun it at the height of it's power, projects ahve come to fruition and the earth is abundant. (the day may vary slightly as this is an astrological event.)
Lughnasadh /Lammas 1st August - Lugh is the sun god , Lammas means loaf mass, harvesting is beginning to start. The Sun will begin to wane in the next few weeks and begin to give rise to autumn.
Mabon 21st September - or the Autumn equinox again this festival may differ slightly to the 21st as it is an astrological event, light and dark are in balance once again but this time the dark will overcome the light in the days to come as the nights begin to draw in and first frosts of winter start. The leaves have already began to turn the red and brown and start their fall from the branches and out thoughts turn once again reflection and what we have achieved in the year. The cattle and fields are prepared for the coming harsh weather.
